“In a certain navigation, where the maps are transfigured by directions whose chaos originates in the sensitization of reason, the current of the flow is determined by the irrationality of the order of the instinct of creation. The destination of this navigation is consolidated in the rationality of the materialization of the visible form. But these paths become disordered by the indeterminacy of the winds of the not-I, and only the search for an affect of/on the I will combine, in itself, the rational and the irrational, the conscious and the unconscious, aggression and affection - converging to the vortex where, in reality, opposites have always coexisted in an undifferentiated symbiosis; where dialogue is only the means of remembering.
Let's believe that in the beginning, everything was one, harmonious and balanced; then, in the light of reason, everything became chaos, which, in a certain metaphysics, has an underlying primordial, intrinsic and inexorable order that is energy that (re)configures it. Within the scope of our possible knowledge, the disorder of the form of thought lacks a process that materializes it, configuring it with a certain logic. But this reordering depends on the energy of sensitization, whose primordial order is to harmonize, or better, to make rationality sensible; or yet, to find an affective order for the disorder of form.
The drawings I made between 2011 and 2012, seeking to shed light on the penumbra of the surface, paradoxically, with an infinite depth, then took the form of isolated elements. After about 10 years, during my reflection within the scope of the Post-doctorate in Design, the need emerged to associate these drawings with concepts, placing them in a dialogue with each other. And so the reciprocal interlocutors appeared in diptychs that gave rise to the consubstantiation of new ideas. In reality, another dimension of my thinking came into existence, which became more dense, dynamic and structured. It was in the dialogue between these memories that the tacit, subliminal and imminent acquired, perhaps, its true form - the one that developed in a path of expansion of consciousness about thinking about the form of senses and about the meaning of forms.
Deep down, in the course of the linearity of the research process on and through idea-forms, the memory maps metamorphosed according to a fluctuating chronological order - where a certain coefficient of sensitive chaos infiltrated. Its condensation resulted in islands of fragmented thought. But, after some time, behold - leaving the flow of forms and leaving the impulsive flow of formal sensations - the memory of these islands is exposed to reflection, to the dialogue of concepts, to the semantic dichotomies of discussions, which, however, become make them reconcilable at the level of their genesis: the felt thought and the thought feeling.
The drawings made during these last few months make explicit, in a more identifiable way, the character that I assumed in the undefined imaginary where I look for this essence: sensible reason. I assume, with these characters, a navigation that, although wandering, converges towards a determined subliminal goal; even if it only glimpses an indeterminate formal meaning. In fact, it is the wandering of chaos that makes sensible form possible.
In a transversal experience, I consider that the source of art is never the manifesto. Or rather, under no circumstances can I say that this or that is mere abstraction, mere realism, mere order or mere chaos. Art undoes conceptual dichotomies, to the extent that sensitivity - in its transcendent, omnipresent and never absent condition - remains a subjective objective about a memory with which I dialogue and make present.” - Luis Filipe Rodrigues (Sto. Tirso - Portugal)
