Tânia OP has developed her artistic practice
reflecting on humanity, the meaning of life,
emptiness, inner peace and freedom. Trough art,
she opens internal processes of questioning, of
reflection, purification and liberation, which
she transforms and transfers to the physical
plane trough matter and the body itself.
She dedicates herself to Performance Art as a
contemplation of existence in a somatic body.
She focuses on the meaning of ancestral
monastic rituals and routines trough various
artistic practices, exploring sound, form and
movement in the mystique of the moment.
She graduated in Fine Arts/Sculpture at the
Faculty of Fine Arts the University of Porto.
Now, she is a PhD student
on the Media Arts course at the University of
Beira Interior/Portugal.
This opening began with a contemplative
performance at the S. Bento train station, in
the center of Porto, which then continued to
the gallery spaces, where the artist presents a
proposal in which the public is invited to take
a contemplative path, passing trough different
stations.
“The Contemplative Path is somewhere between
peace and boredom. It is a journey to enjoy and
savor with awareness and authenticity. A unique
moment for you, in which you are invited to
contemplate the beauty of small gestures, your
gaze, your body and your breathing.” - Tânia OP
